About Muizenberg — Fishing Local Knowledge
The False Bay shoreline around Muizenberg, St James and Kalk Bay offers surf, rock and harbour-wall angling in generally warmer, more sheltered water than the Atlantic coast.
Anglers target kob (kabeljou), shad (elf, which has a closed season and bag limits, so check current regulations), white steenbras and galjoen off the rocky sections towards St James, plus blacktail, hottentot and the odd garrick and yellowtail in the warmer months. Sardine, chokka and mussel are standard baits, with spinning spoons for shad and garrick. The Kalk Bay harbour wall is a well-known nearby hotspot. Early morning and the higher tide stages usually produce best.
