About Natures Valley — Fishing Local Knowledge

Angling here splits between the placid Groot River lagoon, where the estuary meets the sea, and surf fishing along the open beach; fly-anglers and light-tackle anglers favour the lagoon.

The estuary holds spotted grunter, Cape stumpnose, leervis and small kob, taken on prawn and light bait around the tide changes, while the surf can produce kob, shad, white steenbras and blacktail. Because Nature's Valley lies within the Garden Route National Park and its marine protected zones, fishing is tightly regulated with permits, closed areas and bag limits — check the current SANParks and MPA rules carefully before fishing or keeping any fish.
